Before her appointment to the Senate in 2023, Dawn Anderson had a career focused on community development and Indigenous governance. She served as the chief of the Kátł’odeeche First Nation in the Northwest Territories. Her professional experience reportedly includes roles in business development and administration for various Indigenous organizations. Anderson was also the co-chair of the Mackenzie River Basin Board, an organization responsible for managing the water resources of the Mackenzie River Basin. This role involved working with various levels of government, including federal, provincial, and territorial, as well as Indigenous governments.
