Before his appointment to the Senate in 2018, Marty Klyne had a long career in business and management. He served as the Chief Executive Officer of the Regina Regional Economic Development Authority. He also held leadership positions in media, acting as the publisher for two major Saskatchewan newspapers, the Regina Leader-Post and the Saskatoon StarPhoenix. Klyne's career also includes significant involvement with Indigenous organizations and businesses. He was the Chief Operating Officer of the Assembly of First Nations and was associated with the First Nations Bank of Canada. Additionally, he has been reported to have served as president and CEO of the Saskatchewan Gaming Corporation and as a director and president of the Regina Pats Hockey Club.
