Robert Black

Business & Financial Interests

Before his appointment to the Senate in 2018, Robert Black had a long career in municipal politics and agricultural administration in Ontario. He served for many years on the Wellington County Council, including a term as Warden. He was also the chief executive officer of the Rural Ontario Institute, an organization focused on leadership and community development in rural areas. His professional background is deeply rooted in agriculture. He has been involved with the Ontario Federation of Agriculture and the Ontario Agri-Food Education organization. He is also a past president of the Canadian 4-H Council, a national youth organization. His public disclosures list interests in a consulting firm, but his primary career focus has been in public service and non-profit leadership related to rural and agricultural issues.
